I've own a pair of PX-100's since 2002. I can't say enough good things about these speakers. They are open-type so you can hear outside, but it only leaks just a bit.
Very light weight, and I've used them constantly for the gym. and no damage. For under $50, these are great headphones.
I bought a second pair a year ago since I lost my original pair, but my original pair lasted 7 years of gym, working, etc. I am use to using audio gear of much higher caliber, but these are just awesome headphones. Perfect for the gym, or subway, or walking.
They do seem fragile at first, but they can handle it. Yes, I use better headphones at home with an amp, but it's hard to beat these for great music and portability with an Ipod/MP3 player.
Nothing special. decent for the $$$. 2nd one purchased in our family - this one as a gift. would/will purchase another.
I've had the same set of these headphones for two years now. The headphones can really make you feel like you are right in the middle of everything on the right songs, and I have found myself on many occasions noticing instrumental parts that I had never noticed before. Note that they are obviously not noise-canceling headphones, but I also find that I don't have to turn them up very loud to block out background noise. The only complaint I have about the headphones is that after a while they start to feel a little uncomfortable. Yet despite the amount of use and abuse these headphones have taken from me, they are still in great shape and show no signs at all of physical wear except for some little notches in the cord from when I have pinched it (none of which broke the cord's casing, though). However, that is reasonable and acceptable. The bottom line is that for the price these headphones are hard to beat. I don't find the headphones to be remotely hard to fold up into the case; I just occasionally somehow get the cord pinched when I open the case. I have used them for probably at least half of those days, have turned the volume way up when I feel like it, and have gotten the cord pinched in the case many times when trying to pull the headphones out of it. Yet with these headphones on, I could suddenly hear them.
I have experienced no loss of sound in the right channel, as some people have pointed out, and even with my occasional loud volumes, I have also not experienced any distortion in the sound from the strain. The sound quality in my opinion is fantastic. It is clear and I find it all to be balanced just the way I like it. I find that after two or three hours sitting at my desk with them on I'll have to take them off for a few minutes just to let my ears relax and adjust again. They have gone up (I think I paid ~$35 with shipping), but for a "cheap" set of headphones, these are remarkably high-quality and recommended.
When I received the new pair I wrapped tape around the connector and up the cord about 2" so there wouldn't be constant bending at the connector. This is my 2nd pair of PX100's. I'm hopeful this will prolong its life. The reason I went to this trouble is because of how much I like the PX100s. The sound died on the right side speaker which is a pretty typical issue with the PX100 and the only knock I've found. On my previous pair, the cord became exposed where it inserts into the hard plastic connector housing. They are very balanced and comfortable and allow me to hear just enough outside noise to be aware of what's going on around me without being distracted by it. These are great head phones that I highly recommend.as long as you include a roll of tape in your purchase.:)
It comes with all the necessities for any traveler or regular user. These headphones are known for its sound quality, portability, and cheap price. You will not be disappointed with this product. Coming with a case, it's easy to simply collapse the headphones and place them into a compartment. The headphones provide cushions on the top and are very light in weight, so a person should not have trouble with being uncomfortable at any point. They're perfect headphones for anyone remotely interested in music or listening in general.
